9 tips for surviving this valentine's without love from outside.

Valentine's day can be painful for singles or someone in a dysfunctional relationship. 

This week can be hard on those who are single, have a broken heart from a recent breakup or divorce, or in an abusive relationship. There are ads and promotions of products and services meant for catering to lovebirds everywhere right now. Love and romance are in the air. There is a sight of flowers, teddy card gifts, and love birds indulging in sweet moments everywhere.

Someone who has a heart that hurts can find this week really difficult to survive.

Here are some tips you can use to soothe yourself and feel comfortable with your current mood and festivity:-

  1. Stay away from social media. You don’t need to make yourself feel less fortunate by watching romantic stories posted by others, most of which are totally fake and are there only for the heck of it.

  2. Do something special for yourself. Think of something you had been wanting to do to yourself for a long time. Get a new dress, enroll in a short-term course, buy a great book, get a haircut, relax all day in bed, visit your grandparents, etc.

  3. Meet a single friend who wanted to meet with you for a long time.

  4. Attend a spiritual get-together at a place you feel positive or have had a positive experience previously. A good spiritual program can take your mind off these material issues and you will feel rejuvenated.

  5. Make plans with kids. Visit a placement for kids. The overflowing innocence o your and other kids can really make you feel awesome.

  6. Do some charity work and show real love for humanity.

  7. Get something you needed to be repaired or renovated for a long time.

  8. Start a new short-term project, that can give you some instant happiness and a sense of achievement in few days.

  9. Learn self-love techniques from a therapist or a self-help book.

People who have strong self-esteem do not look much on the outside to feel loved and valued, however those with low self-esteem feel better about themselves only when someone on the outside approves of their worth.

Learning to love and accept yourself is very essential not only for those who are physically or emotionally lonely but also for those who have a fulfilling relationship. Because you can show healthy love to someone only if you are capable of loving yourself.

Nobody’s opinions and behavior towards us really matter if we have a strong acceptance of ourselves in totality, that is we should be aware of our strengths and weakness. 

Never think that you are not loved because you are not perfect. Nobody is perfect, except God.  A person who is capable of loving, will love you as you are.
